THE WINDHAM HOTEL

For more than two centuries, Taverns, Coach Houses, Inns, and Hotels have occupied the site where the first bridge crossed the Connecticut into Vermont. When the stage coach was at its peak, the Stage House Hotel began its long run, followed by Towns Hotel and finally the Hotel Windham. Since the construction of the second Hotel Windham in 1932, the townscape around the corner of Bridge Street has changed immensely. The continuity the hotel building has bestowed upon this townscape defines, in part, what we think of as Bellows Falls.
