O Brother, Where Art Thou?

George Clooney stars in this wild run through depression-era Mississippi. The conventional wisdom tells us this is an Homeric tale, cribbed loosely from The Odyssey since it pulls in references to a trio of bathing sirens, a galumphing cyclops, and even Clooney as a protagonist name of Ulysses. You’ll find various pundits claiming either that this is or is not The Coen brothers finest movie but one thing that can be said is that it is perhaps the audience’s favorite. The soundtrack alone spawned a new interest in the southern gospel and blues genre and launched the career of multiplatinum Mumford and Sons. Go figger.

Don’t miss this one.

The menu alone is a good enough reason to plonk down twenty five bucks for dinner and a movie. Three courses of down home comfort including jambalaya, catfish, or a fried green tomaters dish that has a black-eyed peas moment called “hoppin john.” Did someone say Mississippi Mud Pie?
Go on! Kristen’s whipped up some southern cocktails that should put your night over the top.
