In a benefit performance for Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure (ABCC), The Steel Wheels are playing a sold out show at the Bellows Falls Opera House across the street from Popolo. We’ve made an arrangement with the show’s promoters to stream the show in real time on the big screen at Popolo. To help the cause, Popolo will donate five dollars from each $20 entree to ABCC. So, even if you weren’t able to get tickets to the show, you can still be part of this incredible show of support. Karin Mallory has done an amazing job in selling out the Opera House and we’re inspired to help, too.

We’re also serving dinner in the lobby without the concert stream. Some people prefer to eat without the video and for these folks we’re offering a quiet night with a fire in the fireplace. We’d love to say that at that point in early spring we wouldn’t need a fire but we’re not so optimistic about early spring in BF.

To participate in the Steel Wheels event at Popolo, you’ll need to make dinner reservations after 7:30. That’s when the show starts at the Opera House. We expect the early part of the evening to be busy because of the number of concert goers in town that night.

So who ARE the Steel Wheels, anyhow? Someone with the towering credentials of NPR called them “Americana made by hand.” Interesting but vague. The Steel Wheels are a four-piece from the Blue Ridge Mountains, these boys blend guitars, mandolin, fiddle, and upright bass into the kind of music you might hear at the Grand Old Opry.
