This year marks the sixth anniversary of the Black Sheep Radio Block Party.

The Block Party is a place to see people, get some grub, and listen to music. Sometimes people show up to play unexpectedly, like the time Billy Bragg dropped in wearing a natty hat under a full moon and played to an audience of a few hundred people.

The line-up on Saturday, August 17, already looks pretty high-falutin’. The show’s headlined by area groove-grass savants, Jatoba, who offer their acousticky masterworks in true Vermont style. Jatoba should pair well with Sunny Lowdown, a modern-day blues hero who’s come to reside in these parts. Apocryphal or otherwise, his story starts with a night backing up John Lee Hooker and moves on from there.

Also on the bill are Saxtons River’s handsome and complex I Love You, the immensely talented Moxley Union, and the unique collaboration of Charlie Brady, Joe Stacey, and their posse.

You can grab dinner at Popolo and head around the corner to the Waypoint Center or do not pass go before showing up early for all the music you can stand. Get in the know about area music in just one night. These are some of the most revered names in regional music and the folks at WOOL are infinitely grateful for their generous participation in this benefit.

Tickets are $12.00 in advance an $15.00 at the gate and you might not find a more reasonable ticket price anywhere for all this talent in once place at the same time. Plus, your purchase helps to fund a very noble community enterprise, Black Sheep Radio.
