Popolo is a restaurant that adjoins a beautiful set of vintage function rooms and a spacious deck overlooking rustic old mill buildings, America’s first canal, and the timeless mountains. The Windham was built in 1932 to replace a long legacy of hotels, inns, coachhouses, and taverns that have been on the site since the 1700s. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places and retains much of the original character of its construction. We’re steps from the Amtrak station where The Montrealer brings travelers south from Burlington and North from Penn Station every single day. Across the street is the historic Bellows Falls Opera House, a 550 seat vaudeville theater that recently underwent a monumental $2,000,000 renovation and boasts the largest cinema screen in the state of Vermont.

Because of the variety of spatial configurations at the Windham, Popolo can provide accommodation to virtually every event – from winter business lunches in front of the fireplace to summer weddings for 200 people. Rates vary based on the event, the season, and our calendar but we guarantee we will work hard to fit within your schedule and budget.

Already we have built a robust assortment of events to augment the many cultural activities that make Bellows Falls a unique and vibrant arts community: painting, film, dance, and music of all genres. From the folk-punk of British bard Billy Bragg, to the classical virtuosity of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, the Opera House can host all tastes and temperaments.
